Mask-acne, A new lifestyle issue…!

Mask-Acne..or Mascne….these two words have come to be thanks to the ongoing pandemic. We already had numerous lifestyle issues and now there is a new one on our list.

The face mask is an important and crucial part of our attire now due to the current scenario. We can forget an accessory but forgetting a face mask can be dreadful. There are numerous kinds of face masks that have come to be and a few of them have been listed in my previous post wherein I shared my feedback and suggestions. However, I recently started facing this issue and I was sure I had to share it with my readers since I am sanguine this is what you are going through too and haven’t realized it as yet.

If you have been wearing your mask for over three to four hours, you are at risk. So what really happens? When you wear your mask and talk or breathe there is a moist environment that is created around your mouth area. Eventually, with dust in the air, your face pores get clogged with this amalgamation of moisture with dust in the air. Additionally, as the mask creates friction and discomfort it ends up irritating your skin and the end result is “BREAKOUTS”. This is not an immediate effect but takes a few days to show on your skin. The skin is most vulnerable to acne if you wear your mask all day every day.

I know, we can’t really get rid of the masks, so the solution is to treat your skin during such a scenario. I have mentioned below a few things that may really help and have shown positive signs for me too.

Wash and clean your mask before you wear it – every time! or you can wear disposable masks. The choice of the mask is completely your choice, however, cleaning it is crucial.

Wash your face multiple times during the day, give your skin a break and clean it. Note- make sure your surroundings are sanitized – YOUR SAFETY IS THE PRIORITY!!

Use Vitamin- C or pure Aloe Vera at home before you sleep. Another option is cleansing and toning every time before you sleep. Well, if you want to go natural on your skin…raw tomato and rose water are perfect supplements too! Make sure your clear the pores out before you get your mask on…Its recommended to use fewer products on your face but if indispensable then cleanse your face more often. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE! super super important! Make sure you use wipes/tissue or cotton. Moreover, If feasible, find a secluded spot and let your skin breathe.

The pandemic has already been pretty hard on us…don’t let Mascne let you down too.
